Indoor Range Rules
Universal Safety Rules:
1. Handle all firearms as if they were loaded.
2. Always keep the firearm pointed downrange in a safe direction.
3. Keep your finger off of the trigger until you are ready to fire.
4. Be certain that your target and surrounding areas are safe before firing.
Indoor Range Rules:
· Hearing and eye protection must be worn at all times while on the range.
· No low cut shirts or tank tops.
· Shoes should completely cover and protect your feet.

Indoor Range Rules:
- Everyone is required to adhere to the written Safety Operating Procedures (SOP).
- All scheduled event use of the range shall take precedence over any individual or personal activity. - No Exceptions.
- All vehicles shall be parked in the designated parking area, unless authorized by Burke’s Gun Shop and Indoor Shooting Range management.
- Range is to be used as posted, or as directed by the RSO on duty.
- Burke’s Gun Shop and Indoor Shooting Range members must sign in at the Range Desk prior to using the range and must have their membership card in their possession to allow the Range Desk and RSO on duty to identify them as a member while on the range and get assigned stalls. Signing in at the Range Desk will also allow members to be aware of any updates on special activities that may need to be made known to the member.
- Non-members must sign in at the Range Desk, pay for their range use, targets, ammunition, and any other consumables that they may need on the range. A receipt is necessary to show the RSO on duty in order to be showed your assigned bench.
- Targets may be purchased in the store. Personal targets may be used if they meet the requirements of Burke’s Gun Shop. Plastic bottles, glass targets, tin or aluminum cans, explosive targets, and any other exotic items may not be used as targets at any time. Each shooter on the range must clean up their bench and targets prior to leaving - this will be enforced by the RSO on duty.
- Exercise caution not to accidentally discharge guns in the direction of range property, range signs and stationary furniture.
- All shooting can only be done from the firing line.
- Police up your brass and spent caps when finished shooting. All targets are to be removed.
- All shooters and spectators on the firing lines and staging areas must wear ear and eye protection. Safety ear and eyewear is available for purchase in the store.
- As a part of the range safety procedures, all safety rules will be followed.
- ALL firearms must be unloaded, cased and actions opened when taken to and from the firing line.
- Inexperienced shooters are to advise the RSO if assistance is needed.
- When a “Cease Fire” is called by the RSO, stop shooting and take your finger off the trigger, clear your firearm, remove magazine, open action and place on the shooting bench pointing down range, face the RSO and show your empty hands and step away from the shooting bench.
- No firearms are to be handled or moved until the RSO gives a “Hot Range” command.
- Firing in a careless manner will not be tolerated. Shoot at your target only. Do not shoot at any elevation that will allow a bullet to travel above the berm. Any bullet strikes to facility equipment, structures, or the like other than a designated target carry a fine/fee to cover costs of replacement and/or repairs. Those individuals firing in a careless manner will be dismissed from the range for the rest of the day. A Safety Incident Report will be filled out by the RSO and will be reported via radio to the store staff for collection of fees. See “Replacement and Repair Costs” chart at the end of this document to be used by the RSO to determine fines/fees to be assessed.
- NO open carry of a loaded firearm on your person is allowed in the range. The RSO and Burke’s Gun Shop and Indoor Shooting Range staff along with Law Enforcement personnel are the exception.
- RSO commands and range rules must be accepted at this range. Challenge to any rules or RSO command may be made in writing or in person to Burke’s Gun Shop management.
- All children under 18 must be under adult supervision at all times inside the range and store. Any adult supervising a child will not be allowed to shoot on the range leaving the child unsupervised.
- The minimum age to be on the range by one’s self is 18 for rifle/shotgun and 21 for handgun.
- The RSO on duty will be equipped with first aid supplies, and a radio for communication with the Range Desk in the store.
- Keep your area clean - the RSO will enforce this. Please respect the equipment and clean up your area when you are through shooting. If you move something, PUT IT BACK. If you break something, REPORT IT so it can be repaired for future use. If you make a mess - CLEAN IT UP.
- No drawing from a holster unless you are certified by the RSO and Burke’s Gun Shop.
- No Armor Piercing, Penetrating, Tracer Incendiary or Explosive Ammunition, No Buckshot, Birdshot or Blackpowder, No Muzzleloaders or Blackpowder firearms.
- No Steel or Aluminum Casing Ammunition on the range.
- No Pregnant or breastfeeding women or children under 8 years of age due to potential lead hazards.
- Shooters may not consume alcoholic beverages or drugs (including prescription and over-the-counter medications) that will affect his or her ability to participate with a maximum state of awareness in a completely safe manner, before or during live fire activities. The Range Safety Officer will deny range access to anyone that is or appears to be in violation.
- Persons without a valid government issued photo ID will not be allowed within the range; exception individuals under 16 with an adult over 21 years of age.
- All range users are required to watch a training video prior to entering the range. They are required to initial the waiver that they have seen and understand the video. This will need to be done on a yearly basis.
- Do not hang targets outside of the specified area.
- Only one loaded firearm will be permitted on the bench at a time.
- A maximum of two people will be permitted in a single stall.
- If a shooter needs to leave the stall for any reason, they must ensure their firearm is fully unloaded and that the action is visible and open and pointed downrange.
- No firing across lanes/cross fires.
- If you experience a malfunction or have a problem that requires immediate assistance, please ensure your firearm is safe as possible and the muzzle is pointed downrange and call for help from the Range Safety Officer.
- No cleaning firearms on the range.
· Hearing and eye protection must be worn at all times while on the range.
· No low cut shirts or tank tops.
· Shoes should completely cover and protect your feet.
